Getting Started with Our Telescope

Welcome to an amazing stargazing experience! Our Celestron manual polar‑align telescope has been a part of many evenings, and we’ve used it to share the wonders of the night sky with friends and guests. To get started, we’ve found a really helpful YouTube video that covers the basics step‑by‑step: Watch the video here or scan the QR code at the bottom of this page.

Safety
- Never point the telescope at the sun; it can cause serious damage to both your eyes and the equipment.
- Avoid using the telescope in bad weather to keep it safe and in good condition.
- When you’re finished, please reinstall the 4 inch end cap and return the telescope to the great room for safekeeping.
Viewing tips
- Under the right conditions, you’ll be able to glimpse the cloud bands of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, and even some of Jupiter’s moons. We recommend using a stargazing app like SkySafari to help you locate these celestial wonders more easily.
- For the best stargazing experience, use the telescope at night with clear skies.
- Head to the deck space on the left side as you walk out. This spot faces the western sky and is perfect for a clear view.
- Remove the 4 inch end cap to let light into the telescope. It is just a friction fit cover – no tools or knob turning required.
- If children are around, you can move the telescope out of their reach if needed, but they’re welcome to peek through as long as they don’t adjust any settings.
